TZ 170 SP Wireless Features

Integrated Firewall, VPN and Wireless Access Point
The TZ 170 SP Wireless integrates firewall, VPN and wireless access technologies in one easy-to-use solution, reducing the time and cost burdens associated with supporting multiple solutions.

Failover and Failback Technologies
The TZ 170 SP Wireless ensures continuous uptime for IPSec VPN tunnels by failing over to an analog WAN connection should the broadband connection fail. Once the broadband is re-established, the TZ 170 SP fails back, providing the best connection speed possible.

Broadband-to-Broadband-to-Analog WAN Failover and Failback
The TZ 170 SP Wireless is the only appliance that provides the ability to fail over and fail back from a primary broadband WAN connection to a secondary broadband WAN connection to an analog WAN connection, providing unparalleled network uptime via multiple WAN redundancies.

Wireless Guest Services
The TZ 170 SP Wireless allows network administrators to create user accounts for occasional guest users such as consultants and contractors that permit wireless connections to the Internet without providing access to the corporate network.

IPSec Secure Wireless Bridging
The TZ 170 SP Wireless extends corporate networks to include new offices and employees by utilizing a pair of TZ 170 Wireless appliances to create a secure wireless bridge linking together two wired networks in a campus environment.

Multiple Zones for Different User Types
The TZ 170 SP Wireless allows network administrators to create multiple zones of access for different user types, providing an unprecedented level of control without compromising the security of the network.

High-performance Architecture
The TZ 170 SP Wireless leverages "System-On-a-Chip" technology to deliver 90 Mbps Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall and 30+ Mbps 3DES or AES VPN throughput.

Comprehensive Multi-layer Security
Based on SonicWALL's ultra-high performance deep packet inspection architecture, the TZ 170 SP Wireless provides everything needed for secure connectivity by integrating SonicWALL's suite of security services including intrusion prevention, content filtering and gateway-enforced anti-virus without the need to integrate separate devices.

Deep Packet Inspection Firewall
The TZ 170 SP Wireless features a configurable, high performance deep packet inspection firewall for extended protection to key Internet services such as Web, e-mail, file transfer, Windows services, and DNS.

Comprehensive Bundling
The TZ 170 SP Wireless includes 30 days of Intrusion Prevention Service, Content Filtering Service Premium Edition and Network Anti-Virus (10 users) for comprehensive multi-layer security.

Comprehensive Central Management Using SonicWALL GMS
SonicWALL's award-winning Global Management System provides network administrators with the tools for simplified configuration, enforcement and management of global security policies, VPN and services, all from a central location.

Integrated WLAN Services
The TZ 170 SP Wireless' distributed WLAN capabilities allow easy integration of advanced WLAN services within the organizations existing network and security architectures. Utilizing SonicWALL's SonicPoint satellite access point, organizations can offer wireless guest services, AP-to-AP roaming, wireless intrusion detection and more.

Optional Port
SonicOS Enhanced activates an optional port on the TZ 170 SP Wireless that can be configured either as an additional LAN, WAN, WLAN or DMZ offering greater network configuration flexibility as well as internal security.

WAN Redundancy and Load Balancing
The TZ 170 SP Wireless offers the ability to configure a secondary WAN port, delivering highly reliable network connectivity and robust performance. This secondary WAN port can be used in "active-active" load sharing or Failover configuration providing a highly efficient method for maximizing total network bandwidth.

Multiple Interfaces per Security Zone
The TZ 170 SP Wireless allows network administrators to group multiple physical interfaces into logical "zones" for ease of management and flexibility. Administrators can assign multiple network interfaces, including the VPN tunnel, to a pre- or custom-defined zone of an associated security policy. Using zones as the logical addressing entity provides tremendous flexibility, scalability and added internal security when deploying SonicWALL firewalls in various network topologies.

Object/Policy-based Management
The TZ 170 SP Wireless provides the ability to define an object such as a user group, network address range, service or interface. When security policies change, the administrator can modify the pre-defined object and propagate the changes instantly without redefining rules, enabling businesses to implement and manage security policies easily and consistently.

Policy-based NAT
In addition to NAT (many-to-one) functionality, the SonicWALL TZ 170 SP Wireless exposes control of NAT policies to administrators for one-to-one NAT, many-to-many NAT, one-to-many NAT, inbound Port Address Translation (PAT), flexible NAT (for overlapping IP addresses), as well as NAT policies on selective source/destination/source translations. The result is greater control and flexibility to support and manage various NAT requirements, including performing NAT across VPN tunnels.
